MORRISVILLE, N.C, Oct. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ --Keel Labs™, formerly known as AlgiKnit, announces a full rebrand, created in collaboration with award-winning design firm, Pentagram, with a new name designed to reflect the company's mission and capacity to support a sustainable future at scale. The announcement includes an official name for the company's flagship product, Kelsun™, a seaweed-based yarn with a significantly lower environmental footprint than conventional fibers.
AlgiKnit, US-based manufacturer of sustainable materials, has changed its name to Keel Labs and debuted a seaweed-based yarn with a lower environmental impact.
To create its yarns, Keel Labs extracts a component from seaweed and combines it with renewable biopolymers. Then, the yarn can be knitted into fabrics and dyed.
This new product offers an alternative to current methods of fabric yarn production, which are often highly polluting and resource-intensive.
Tessa Callaghan, co-founder and CEO at Keel Labs, explains that the name Keel Labs encompasses their vision of ever-expanding horizons, of their commitment to innovation and opportunity.
